Sartorial hiatus

One of the joys of being based in the country is not having to bother with the sartorial. I had two of my fellow village friends (also in exile from London for the Christmas season) over for tea & cake and we admitted that we hadn't washed our hair since Christmas Day, had eschewed any make up, and were wearing an assembly of clothes that were kept at home purely for wearing in the country. K, in particular, was wearing her father's extremely manky Barbour which I would put money on her never wearing in Hackney. I'm rather enjoying not bothering, but fear this mode of living may become rather too enjoyable....

Pfft, washing hair every day is overrated (and not good for hair). But I think a Barbour jacket actually looks quite nice..or maybe that's just my uncouth college-girl ways talking..

Replace Barbour with American Apparel sweatshirt and that's me on most mornings these days...alas the town beckons tonight and a special ensemble is in order!

I went to put make up on on New Year's Eve and couldn't find my make-up bag. (Think it may have got left at my parents at Christmas.) Which made me realise that I hadn't worn any for a week!

Spending time ill on the sofa is obviously the urban equivalent of being in the country - no need for glam!

It's funny - I have a mini panic attach if I even think for a moment I may have left the house without my makeup bag - but I LOVE days where I can stay at home and revel in squalor, wearing the most hideously comfortable clothes, unwashed & unmadeup. Ahh!
