Last month I wrote about the dress my great grandmother wore to my grandparent's 1939 wedding. When our great aunt Joan died a few years back we found cases and closets full of wonderful clothes that Joan had inherited from her mother, my great grandmother, all in immaculate condition, many unworn.
As I mentioned Great Granny Wormell had immaculate taste - amongst GA Joan's possessions were piles of handmade Parisian lingerie, Ferragamo shoes from the 30s, crocodile handbags, wonderful furs and more.
This dip dyed, silk chiffon, hand-embroidered kimono was made in Paris in 1913 as part of her trousseau. It's in immaculate condition, and so hangs in my mother's bedroom rather than being worn each day.
